The wonderful world award from Le Grand Mint goes to Mariam Seif from Lebanon

Dear friends, colleagues and representatives of the press,
Courage deserves respect and support. That is why the Dortmund numismatics company Le Gand Mint honors the Lebanese women's rights activist and journalist Mariam Seif from Beirut with the in-house Wonderful World Award - the Wonderful World Award 2021.
The internationally active numismatist Le Grand Mint wants to help preserve the diversity of our wonderful world. This requires support for people with courage who show solidarity and encourage other people to work for social peace themselves.
Since 2016, Le Grand Mint has been nominating courageous people from culture and politics for their humanistic deeds that specifically change the lives of people in Lebanon for the better.
In 2021, the Dortmund-based company would like to honor the Lebanese Mariam Seif for her courageous work as an activist. The socially critical journalist persistently researches facts and dares to confront ethnic radical parties hostile to the press and groups in Lebanon in a journalistic way. The eloquent media professional Mariam Seif smiles defiantly in the face of evil on her social media channels.
The women's rights activist Seif is also involved in politics outside of her job. The activist has been demonstrating against corruption and mismanagement in Beirut since 2015, accusing the religiously and ethnically divided political class of nepotism and kleptocracy. Mariam Seif risks her life for this. Family members of the brave woman have already been attacked. This great courage deserves respect and support.
That is why the Wonderful World Award from Le Grand Mint 2021 goes to the truly courageous women's rights activist, activist and journalist Mariam Seif from Lebanon. It is a great honor for us.

Wonderful World Award (WWA) – The Le Grand Mint Courage-Award 2020

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Press Representatives,

Courage deserves respect. Especially in the year 2020. Human rights activists, democracy supporters and humanists worldwide are caught in the crossfire of capitalist excesses and totalitarian regimes. In Belarus, courage is bludgeoned down by an autocrat, in Germany right-wing populists mock the civil courage of climate activists, and in Lebanon corruption greedily eats away at civil society. But people are resisting, and they use powerful statements. This requires courage.

And courage deserves a prize - the human rights prize Wonderful World Award - offered by the internationally active Dortmund numismatics company Le Grand Mint, goes to Charbel Antonius Khoury in 2020.

The video journalist gives the liberal civil society in Lebanon a voice. Khoury comments on current events in economically and politically hard hit Lebanon in an ironic, yet courageously and bold way The free thinker will not let himself be silenced. Since 2020, this courageous contemporary witness has been presenting his own highly professional satire format on YouTube in cooperation with Daraj Media, which has always been critical of the government. As varied as the commitment of this year's WWA winner is, as great is the courage behind it.

The Le Grand Mint team offers its congratulations, we pay our respects and wish our WWA winner Charbel Antonius Khoury continued success and strength.

As varied as the efforts of our WWA winners are, the courage behind them is great. We thank you very much.

Wonderful World Award (WWA) 2018

Date: 01.08.2018
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Press Representatives,

Actions speak louder than words. Following this motto, the internationally active Dortmund enterprise Le Grand Mint will continue to take a stance in 2018, and we are looking forward to presenting the "Wonderful World Award" once again. Since 2016, courageous people from culture and politics have been nominated for their humanistic deeds that change people's lives for the better.

Emilie Hasrouty, Youmna Fawaz and Kamel Jaber are the justly nominated WWA winners in 2018. As all three Lebanese personalities contribute to improving human interaction in their societies, they are the joint winners of WWA 2018 - for differing but consistently admirable reasons.

Emilie's face is presented daily on television, and with her program "This Morning," the journalist makes an important contribution to enlightenment, initiates debates, and offers orientation in complex matters.

On the front line and behind the front lines, Youmna reports from her neighboring country Syria. She provided rebels a voice and followed the regime critically. The journalists have also been active in Lebanon as activists for social justice.

Kamel Jaber combines artistic aspirations and political journalism in his identity-forming photographs, which have already found their way onto Lebanese stamp motifs. In his texts, the activist analyzes social problems and problem-solving in Lebanon.

As diverse as the commitment of our WWA winners is, their courage is at least as great. We offer our heartfelt thanks for this.

Thank you very much for your interest.

With kind regards,

Ali Sabbagh

Wonderful World Award (WWA) 2017

Dortmund,14 April 2017
Courage for humanity - respecting humankind
Humanity means social cohesion.  Only united can people achieve goals, only together can successes be celebrated.
Honesty, trust, and demeanour are at the core of friendships. Founded on this motivation, we are working together as a team, collectively designing the precious Wonderful World silver coins from the collection of Le Grand Mint, creating and embossing hand in hand, in order to be able to offer the precious metal coins to collectors worldwide. With success.
Gratitude is difficult to put into words. This is why the Le Grand Mint-Team would once again like to pay tribute to the people who are committed to shaping our beautiful world to be more peaceful, social, and humanistic with the presentation of the Wonderful World Awards.
These people deserve the utmost respect as their courage is the inspiration for our success. In a time when cowardice is confused with caution, these people, through their bold wit, are able to awaken hope when despair spreads, defend freedom where oppression prevails, and are socially committed when others look away. These are the heroes who want to change the world for the better, who criticize, provoke and rouse others. With the Wonderful World Award 2017, we are nominating courageous, witty, confident and social individuals. Thank you.
The nominees for 2017 are:
Assaad Thebian
Free journalist and initiator of the "You stink" demonstrations, which have peacefully, but decisively, secured an open dialogue with interest groups in Lebanon.
https://www.facebook.com/assaadthebian
Gino Raidy
His project March takes a practical approach in working with social projects towards a peaceful, diverse and tolerant Lebanon. With increasing success.
https://www.facebook.com/GinoRaidy
John Oliver
The American Late Night TV host captivates with clear, direct discourse, biting cynicism, and satirical humour.
https://www.facebook.com/iamjohnoliver/
Jan Böhmermann
Campino and Erdogan are not amused by him. We love the "Polizistensohn," whose unruly humour has been hyped up into a national crisis by would-be dictators.
https://www.facebook.com/jboehmermann/
Serdar Somuncu
Serdar's nomination was not uncontroversial, but simply the fact that he provokes controversy leads to the satirist and the politician earning his place among the favoured few. "Every minority has the right to discrimination" - from his lips it's not just a form of Newspeak, but political cabaret without taboos; consistently going against reactionary right-wing currents.
